bathroom update...

So back in September, before Hudson was walking on his own, we went to Queens to pick up the tile foor for our bathroom. We took inspiration from our hosts' lovely bathroom that we are currently using. They had done "wood tile" around the tub and it really felt spa like; the stone flooring (pretty 2.5" hex tile) reinforced that feeling (excuse the baby toys...)
We also loved the idea of having a hand shower and an overhead shower. This has been so practical with a baby. Also, the dark tile has been super easy to clean and maintain during our stay..another bonus! The wood tile is American Olean's Terreno Smokewood tile (24" x 6" format)

We found these tiles that were less expensive than the beautiful hex tile, but was more our style. Carrara marble in 3 different textures (smooth, honed and acid etched) so that they provide good slip resistance. Above is a photo of what it will look like grouted. Below is a photo of what the bathroom used to look like...
And now it looks like this!

Love the meeting of the wood tile and the stone flooring...
For fixtures - we took our cue from M+B - we got some awesome pieces from Signature Plumbing. The tub was an awesome find by Dave on CL - at 10% of the retail price. That's not 10% off, that is 10% OF the price...90% off. Contractor orders the wrong size tub. The tub doesn't fit. Contractor sell said tub to enterprising folks like ourselves...

The tub is a bit of a behemoth at 36" x 72", but Dave will be able to enjoy it. And we can throw pool parties for Hudson. No kidding. What do you think I'm planning in January? A pool party with Hudson's besties...

The toilet is a dual-flush Toto we found on Homeclick.com. We sprang for the soft close seat (no slamming seats); in our household everyone must close the toilet lid. We are democratic when it comes to that...and at just under $300 and free! shipping, how could you go wrong?

And finally, we ended up with an Ikea Godmorgon wall mounted Odensvik sink cabinet with two drawers. We located an outlet behind the drawers so our electric toothbrushes can live in the cabinet and we went with the porcelain sink as it doesn't scratch as easily as the resin and it was less money. The faucet, again, is Signature Plumbing.

Can't wait for everything to be installed so we can see how it looks! It's definitely getting there! Grouting starts tomorrow!
