we're approved!

As many of you know from our sister blog, August and September have been a whirlwind! Our friend forwarded this post on brownstoner and said we should get *this* one. And that is pretty much what we did. We got into contract in four days (including an inspection, lawyer review, and mobilizing to complete escrow) which I think is some sort of record.

Last Wednesday night, we met with the coop board (essentially our new neighbors) to gain final approval so that we can set a closing date. One other family has two kids in the building and the other two owners were quite nice (and reasonable). We are looking forward to contributing to the building and the community.

Our apartment is on the 4th floor - but has exclusive roof rights and a 4.5 foot high attic that runs the length of the two bedroom apartment. It is in a great school district (yeah for Hudson!) and on a really nice block in a great neighborhood - close to transportation and the park (our friends have great taste). It does need an update, before we move-in. The bathroom and kitchen need a complete re-do and and the floors need refinishing. The good news is that the roof is in great shape, and the detailing is mostly in tact - the apartment has "great bones" and we get to renovate it the way we want (as long as it is in budget!)!

This blog is going to focus on those renovations pre and post move in. There are things that have to be done to make it a safe home for our baby, and others that we will do along the way.
